WNBA All Stars
Overview:
Client:
Our client needed a team that was able to assist with their first step in Unreal Engine and hooking it up to a large display to capitalize on the graphical fidelity offered by Unreal Engine. They needed not only optimization for the assets their vendors created but someone to hook it all up and work in tandem with Touch Designer as it tracked players via a LiDAR sensor.
The Problem
This was a completely custom set up for the customer that required a lot of innovative thinking and use of NVIDIA NDisplay that pushed Unreal to its boundaries of what it was capable of.
They needed not only stunning visuals but functionality to have pool floaties spawn around the floor that players then had to run to and take their shot in the 60-seconds to beat the high score. Each player (up to 6) would be tracked via LiDAR which needed to displace the water around them in real time.
The customer was none other than AT&T and the WNBA All-Stars, leaving no room for error.
Our Solution
We developed an environment that was assembled by the vendors that not only was optimized for the required gameplay but also to communicate with Touch Designer and update spawned pawns that would displays the water around the players on the actual floor displays in real time.
Using a mix of fluid sims, tracking functionality, Touch Designer and Unreal, we were able to put together an ambitious project that is matched in scale with its complexity.
We provided all back end development, deployment and integration into the client-provided systems that required it. We worked very together to ensure an timeless experience was had.
