Interactive Memorial Wall
Overview:
Client:
Our client needed a team that was able to assist with a interactive display wall that was to run on a specific piece of hardware called the BrightSign XC4055. It had some capability for OpenGL and needed an application that could run natively on the device while streaming content from the customer provided content management service (CMS).
The Problem
The client required expertise in building WebGL for the chosen hardware, BrightSign OS XC4055. While it did not outright say it supported WebGL applications, it was implied through the documentation. The application also required to be connected to a customer-provided CMS so content could be updated by the customer without requiring a new build.
It needed to run for 24/7 and update when a user clicked on their name in a database in a separate mobile application that tracked donors and their specific categories.
Our Solution
We developed a 3D scene in Unity that was able to populate all the required names, tiers, categories and special events that spawned in real-time via the mobile application inputs.
This was communicated through API calls from the application that communicated with the CMS to pull names, photos and updated content that the customer desired.
It runs at a steady 60 FPS and updates when signals are sent from the CMS when new content is added or the customer wants to trigger a specific event.
The Results
The application was successfully deployed and met all functional requirements. The physical installation was set up and is now displayed in the customer’s building lobby.
It displays monthly events, all donation tiers, a specialty group inside the organization, provided art, and allows a custom event for the customer to toggle on/off.
All running inside Unity via a WebGL build on the player at a crisp 60 FPS.
We provided all back end development, UX, deployment and integration into the client-provided systems that required it. Using Unity, we created a WebGL build that was deployed to the client-provided hardware (BrightSign)
